Even though I am a mom who teaches school full time, every morning I prepare a fresh chef's salad, caesar salad or Greek salad for my husband's lunch as a change from sandwiches. His co-workers think he's spoiled and envy his lunches. I do the same for my daughter as well as prepare her an on-the-go breakfast that she eats as I drive her 11 km out of my way to her school. My 19 year son is a very picky eater but loves when I still peel and cut up apples to eat on his drive to university!

My boyfriend is going to school 3 hours away right now. I "blow kisses" at him via Skype every day, and send him funny videos I find on YouTube.

I bring sunshine to my loved ones by opening the curtains ! They think it's magic; I think they spend to much time inside, on the computer. Thanks Mother Nature for helping me bring sunshine to my pale family!!!

MY UNCLE IS RETIRED. HE LOST HIS WIFE 6 YEARS AGO. HE DEPENDED ON HER FOR EVERYTHING FROM WHAT TO WEAR, SUPPER, AND WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR DAYS. I VISIT HIM ONCE A WEEK AND PLAN A SPECIAL DAY TOGETHER SUCH AS LUNCH OR GOING TO A MOVIE. HE REALLY LOOKS FORWARD TO HAVING ME STOP BY AS HE IS STILL SLOWLY ADJUSTING TO LIFE AS A BACHELOR AFTER 40 YEARS OF MARRIAGE. HOWEVER, I TRY TO MAKE HIM REALIZE THAT THERE'S LIFE AFTER HER AND THAT THERE IS SOMETHING TO LIFE FOR!

My wife loves flowers, she says it adds so much life and colour to a room -- so I tend to buy flowers without any occasion other than making her happy

well i try my best to bring sunshine into the lives of my kids by letting them know everyday that they are special for who they are and well they are pretty great if i do say so myself
  • Kathy May, Ontario

No matter how busy I am, I always make sure I stop to enjoy my 4 year old twins. To hug and tell them how much I love them and how special they are...each day!

I've invited my Mom over and made her a foot soak, put on a movie and got her a drink.

Invited a couple girl friends over and purchased supplies for everyone to have a manicure. Made a special chocolate desert, bottle of wine and a good chick flick...of course it's a sleep over.

When I was reading her a story at bedtime, my youngest daughter used to often say with a smile, "Save enough time for massage". Here she is now, almost 18 and stepping into the work force with a job she loves but has her on her feet all day. "Do you have enough energy to massage my feet?" She will sweetly ask me after a long shift of cooking. It is a wonderful way to keep in loving contact with our loved ones - destressing them and making room for more sunshine!

My sweetie takes his lunch to work. Bag lunches are known to be pretty boring but I try to make his anything but boring. I use variety and lots of fresh baked items. Instead of buying bread I make it fresh for his sandwiches or I make wrap sandwiches with different toppings each day, or fresh rolls with lots of favorite toppings. He actually looks forward to seeing what I have put in each day and even his co-workers have to check out what the days menu is. Often I'll send extra cookies or muffins so he can share with them. I sometimes will add a little note of encouragement because I really appreciate how hard he works to support us. He never fails to call and thank me after he has eaten which in turn also brings sunshine to my day!

I write him notes every morning before he wakes up and put it in his briefcase, car or on the bathroom mirror. The notes are always something simple and short but meaningful. On today's note i wrote, "You are my everything".
When he sees the notes he calls me from work to tell me how much the note meant to him/ or made his day.
